Minister Report: Rev. David Elliott

  • Our Spring Forward Series, “The Lenses of Life,” ended on June 3, and Rev. David couldn’t be happier with the results and the feedback.
  • Special thanks to ChristineEss Young, our guest speaker on June 10, and to our Chaplain Team, which provided the message on June 17, which was Fathers’ Day.
  • Our Summer Series begins this Sunday, June 24.  The title is “Nonviolent Communication,” based on the book by, and work of, Marshall Rosenberg.
  • At the recent Unity People’s Convention, Rev. David learned some important aspects of the kind of live-streaming we have been doing with Spiritual Roundtable.  A reboot will be taking place during our Summer Series, to be completed by our Faith in Action fall program, so that anyone who wishes may participate.
  • Efforts are still underway for livestreaming or video-recording our Sunday Celebrations.  We are researching and discussing how to get this online in a way that will make the greatest constructive impact on viewers.
  • 3 teenagers are planning to attend the upcoming NW YOU Rendezvous.
  • Plans for membership classes have been pushed back several times as we’ve faced rapid changes and focused on expanding our online presence.
  • Our Sisters-in-Spirit Women’s Ministry’s in May was “Meditative Painting” presented by Janet Rhodes LUT.  Reports were positive.
  • The SIS event on June 24 will be “Fairy Gardens.”
  • The “Baby Shower” diaper drive sponsored by the Vitality Team ended last Sunday, June 17.  Arrangements have been made to deliver the items to the Nourish Pierce County food bank.
  • Rev. David attended UWM’s annual convention in the Kansas City area in June, and he is filled with enthusiasm and ideas.
  • Rev. David will be away for vacation for a week in July.
  • Our annual Community Picnic is scheduled for August 26.
  • Planning is underway for the Chaplain Training in September.  They are also planning to attend the NW Region Conference on the day of workshops by Linda Martella-Whitsett.  That will suffice for training provided no one new steps forward.  Should that happen, the Chaplains will all train together on the official material, but our Chaplains are still committed to attend the conference event.
  • Planning is underway for Faith in Action in the fall.
  • Denise and the Tech Team are researching keyboards and cameras in preparation for changes coming up.
  • Scott Young conducted another training for the Tech Team, and in the process balanced the sound for the room.
